642 Tiny Things to Write About: You Too Can Be in GQ!

Today’s assignment:

Write the first sentence of feature profile of you in a men’s fashion magazine

haven’t read a men’s fashion magazine since the 1980s when I was in college and graduate school.  One of my male friend’s had a subscription to Gentlemen’s Quarterly aka GQ.  While we women had no interest in most of the profiles or articles, it was the clothing ads that really caught our attention.  The 1980s saw the emergence of the male model and the campaigns featured some rather nice looking gentlemen, like Tom Hinatnaus (pictured here in his chonies for Calvin Klein).  We gladly recycled the contents of each month’s edition, carefully tearing out the ads to plaster our dorm walls.

I suppose women do get feature articles on occasion in GQ, just as men are featured in Vogue.    If I ever hit that cultural milestone, the profile would probably focus on my work as a cyber security analyst. So here’s the opening sentence of the article about me.

“Sipping on a half empty cup of cold coffee, she sits staring at an endless stream of data on her computer screen, looking for clues of the inevitable breach into the network.”

(And the accompanying photo would feature an outfit a bit less revealing than Mr. Hinatnaus’.)
